Today we left Boulder after a yummy breakfast with some new found friends visiting from New Mexico. We’re glad we visited, but Boulder isn’t for us. We prefer lumberjacks over hipsters in our mountain towns (and Leadville delivers there).
To get to Leadville we crossed over Mosquito Pass, the highest vehicular pass in the country. It’s a rough and technical road… So the fact we did it while fighting sleet, snow and freezing rain made for one beautiful (and kind of scary) adventure.
Once off the pass and into Leadville we found that most every campsite is closed for the year. But resourceful like we are we did eventually find a gorgeous spot.
